In memoriam: Frances Oglesby Williamson - 12/04/2013
Frances Oglesby Williamson, a longtime resident of Hamilton, passed away peacefully on December 4, after a valiant fight against breast cancer over the past eight years, beating the disease once during that time.

Surrounded by her family, she was the beloved wife of twenty-seven years to J. Michael Williamson III and loving mother to Sarah (Brayden) Bennett and John “Jack” M. Williamson IV. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard A. Oglesby, and leaves behind her mother, Lamar E. Oglesby, her three brothers and their families, and countless other dear family and friends.

A native of Atlanta, Frances especially loved to spend time at her family’s mountain refuge in North Georgia, where she will be laid to rest in a private ceremony this summer. She attended the Westminster Schools and graduated from Dartmouth College and the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Frances had been a passionate science teacher at the Tower School in Marblehead for over 25 years. Her extraordinary work there was honored last spring in the naming of a new state-of-the-art science lab, and the incredible number of lives she had touched was showcased in all who came to celebrate.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to the Williamson Innovative Science Education “WISE” Fund at the Tower School (75 West Shore Drive, Marblehead, MA 01945) to support creative, hands on teaching at the school that Frances loved dearly and that respected her highly.
