Class of 1984 Moosilauke Crew Cabin
On May 31, 2010, we dedicated the Class of 1984 Moosilauke Crew Cabin!
Over 500 '84s contributed to this great project over six years of fundraising leading up to our 25th reunion – and one more year after that, as we set our ambitions higher!
The new Crew Cabin will serve Dartmouth’s traditions well by housing future generations of the Moosilauke Lodge Crew, who welcome first-year students every fall to the call of the Hill Winds at Mt. Moosilauke. While building on the traditions of New England timber frame construction, the design of the new Crew Cabin represents the our Class's aspirations to establish new standards of excellence and to respond to the challenges of our time in terms of broad-reaching education and sustainability.
David Hooke ’84, a former general manager of the Dartmouth Outing Club, developed the initial project concept for our Class and turned its implementation into an enriching educational experience for members of the Dartmouth community through volunteer workshops involving dozens of Dartmouth students, alumni and staff.
Cary Bernstein ’84 brought together a team of five ’84 architects (Cola Parker, Tom Rivard, Chris Von Eckartsberg, Robert Young Jr. and herself), working pro bono to significantly enhance the original design of the Crew Cabin. The strong design and sustainability standards that this project embodies will surely inspire other projects at Dartmouth to follow.
On top of all that, Robert White '84 pulled together a team that produced a new Moosilauke Mountain Trail map, that is now available at the Ravine Lodge.
Well done '84s! |
